La fête de la Batteuse (Thresher Festival) in Pers-Jussy is the oldest festival of this type in the Haute-Savoir region, France. This year it’s celebrating its fortieth anniversary and I was honored to create design for the festival reusable plastic cups!
The festival usually takes place at the end of August. The celebration begins with the parade of carriages and then all day long the public can attend numerous demonstrations of old agricultural equipment.
Mowers for haymaking pulled by oxen, horses or old tractors, followed by a demonstration of the work of the old threshers driven either by a steam engine, by a four-horse carousel, or by tractors. Always very spectacular to see!
